We believe eating healthy is important for children, and we can help our child learn about and enjoy lots of good foods each day. Our menu is planned to provide meals and snacks that meet federal and state rules and guidelines.
Children enjoy foods that will help them grow and learn to pick foods that will help them live a healthy life. Our program provides breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, and supper. These are provided at the following times:
7:00 AM – 9:00 AM
11:30 AM – 12:45 PM
4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Our program assures meals and/or snacks are nutritionally sound by participation in the Child and Adult Food Program (CACFP), menus are reviewed by a public health professional and are followed by the meal/snack menu guide based on the USDA approved meal patterns. Our program provides a supportive, attentive and accommodating environment for children with food allergies or special dietary requirements.
Infants are fed on demand or at regular intervals based on their age, with a gradual introduction to a sleep, feeding, and changing schedule. Prepared bottles are labeled with the child’s first name, date, contents, and capped, and infants are always held during bottle feedings. Solid foods are introduced in consultation with parents/guardians and in accordance with CACFP/USDA guidelines, which are available for review by staff and parents.
Our program supports breastfeeding families by providing designated spaces for nursing or pumping and ensuring breastfed babies receive only breast milk unless otherwise directed. Parents are consulted on procedures for feeding their baby if they are late or the supply of breast milk runs out, and staff is trained on the benefits, preparation, and storage of breast milk. Additionally, our program maintains open communication with parents about what and how their infants ate, with resources readily available for support.
Meals at our center are served family-style, with staff sitting alongside the children and enjoying the same foods. This approach fosters a sense of community and encourages healthy eating habits. Children are invited to participate in meal preparation in age-appropriate ways, promoting independence and involvement. Scheduled meals and snacks are provided to all enrolled and present children, ensuring everyone has access to nutritious food throughout the day.
Children in our program receive nutrition education based on CACFP and USDA standards, helping them understand the importance of healthy eating and forming lifelong healthy habits. Nutrition concepts are integrated into books, daily activities, and mealtimes, providing engaging opportunities to learn about balanced eating and active living.
Families are also supported through nutrition education shared via learning activities, community events, brochures, and meal information in the parent handbook and posted menus. Our program emphasizes the prevention of childhood obesity and teaches the basics of child nutrition, which are also shared with parents to encourage healthy practices at home.
